Hiroshima Castle Ninomaru
Overview

Hiroshima Castle was established by Mori Terumoto, one of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s council of “Five Great Elders”. It is an excellent ecxample of a flatland castle. The castle was completely destroyed by the atomic bomb blast on August 6th 1945. The present castle tower was reconstructed in 1958 and is now used to exhibit historic artifacts. Ninomaru and its turrets were reconstructed in 1994 using the original materials and methods.
